President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has hinted that Florence Pugh may appear as Yelena Belova in Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer ahead of her already confirmed credit in Avengers: Doomsday later in the year.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the next Marvel movie to be released in cinemas, arriving at Cineworld on 31st July.

While we already knew to expect to see Tom Holland back as Peter Parker, as well as Zendaya as MJ, and Sadie Sink in a new and as yet undisclosed role, a Yelena Belova appearance was not on our bingo card.
Speaking at BiliBili World in Shanghai, Kevin Feige hinted that Spider-Man could be taking on New Avenger, Yelena. “If you’re a fan of Yelena, wait until Avengers: Doomsday. Yelena plays a big part in that,” he said. “But if you don’t want to wait until then, you might see Yelena a bit sooner in the movies.”
The last time we saw Yelena was in 2025’s Thunderbolts, in which her haggle of misfits turned shiny new superheroes were rebranded as the New Avengers. The rest of the gang, consisting of John Walker, Bucky Barnes, Alexi Shostakov, Bob Reynolds, and Ava Starr, are also all confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released on 17th December.
Considering 2026 has been the year for girl power in superhero movies, we’re overjoyed at the prospect of getting even more badass females in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This news follows interviews from a few years back in which both Tom Holland and Florence Pugh both showed huge interest in a crossover between Spider-Man and the New Avenger.
On the red carpet at the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere in 2021, Tom Holland was asked about Florence Pugh, to which he responded, “I think she’s amazing. She’s so good in [Black Widow] and all the movies that she’s done. A really cool Spider-Man / Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist.”
A couple of years later, in 2023, during a puppy interview with Buzzfeed, Pugh was asked about a potential Marvel crossover. “I mean, I think it would have to be Spider-Man. I think they’d be so silly together, it would be so fun as well. And I’ve been desperate to meet Tom Holland for such a long time.”
