Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story explores a truly remarkable actor's multifaceted, sadly curtailed life. This inspirational documentary explores Reeve's iconography as a movie star, cemented by his triumphant turn in the Superman movie franchise, and his loving family life away from the cameras.
Fans will be familiar with Reeve's personal tragedy. Immortalised as the man who could fly, Reeve was later paralysed in a horse-riding accident but he refused to be defined by this unexpected turn of events. He continued to act and direct while his bond to family grew even stronger. It's the recollections from these individuals that help imbue Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story with its intimate sense of focus.
The film, directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, draws on candid, moving observations from Reeve's children Alexandra Reeve Givens, Matthew Reeve and Will Reeve. The movie acts as a powerful reminder of the human spirit in the face of steep adversity and it screened in advance for Unlimited members last night. Did it cause their emotions to soar? What was achieved after his injury was inspiring and what happened in a short space of time to the family was tragic.
Great to see his children carrying on the legacy.
Very moving, the life of the man & his family behind the Superhero.

Powerful, poignant and emotional. The work going on around research and treatment of spinal cord injuries as a result of Reeve and his family is changing lives in a way nobody thought possibly - what a legacy and what an inspiration.
