Barbenheimer and Glicked seem like only yesterday. But a new double whammy blockbuster release weekend is coming, and it’s been christened DunesDay by the internet. While we were waiting for either the Russo brothers or Denis Villeneuve to yield, it looks like Avenger: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three will be going head to head at the box office on the 18th December – and the six month countdown is on!
Assemble for a day of fighting sandworms and Robert Downey Jr with our guide to DunesDay.
What is DunesDay?
A moniker created by the wonderful people of the internet, DunesDay is a mash-up of these two blockbuster film titles: Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Dooms Day, both releasing on 18th December.
How to prepare for Dunes Day
- Book your tickets. They're not on sale yet, but when they are we'll let you know
- Rewatch both Dune films and the entirety of the MCU – revision is important
- Make sure you're snack and drinks ready for your double bill
Choose your fighter: Which should I watch first on DunesDay?
These films are entirely unrelated, so it’s completely up to you which you watch first. Our recommendation would be whichever you’re most excited for. Equally, you may wish to leave the best to last. Are you Team Dune or Team Marvel? Either way, make a double bill out of it, have fun, go with your mates, and enjoy DunesDay!
What to wear to DunesDay?
While Barbenheimer and Glicked certainly leant themselves to specific colour schemes, it’s a little less straight forward for DunesDay. That said, these epic franchises still lend themselves to plenty of dressup ideas. From Doctor Doom masks to your very own Filt-Plug. Or go all in with capes and superhero affinities. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
