This is one of Studio Ghibli’s cosiest films
First released in 1989, Kiki’s Delivery Service takes place in a world in which witches and non-magical humans exist side by side, with all young witches following a similar trajectory of going it alone when they turn 13. Venturing out to find a new town to settle in and find her purpose, Kiki is joined by her familiar, a black cat called Jiji, whom she can speak to, and her mother’s old, reliable broomstick. Starting her life of independence, the headstrong Kiki begins to run a delivery service, her only skill being her ability to fly a broom.
Kiki’s Delivery Service is already a masterpiece, but now you can watch it in IMAX
Studio Ghibli films are known for their visual beauty. For the most part, all Studio Ghibli films are hand-drawn using watercolour and acrylic paints to capture their characters and spellbinding worlds, following traditional animation methods to bring each frame to life. To see Kiki’s Delivery Service blown up on the largest screen in cinema, then, is a spectacle within itself. These giant screens allow you to take in all the details, a canvas filled with clarity and bold colours.
Kiki’s Delivery Service is only showing for a limited time
Kiki’s Delivery Service is only showing in IMAX at Cineworld for a limited time. In fact, you’ll only be able to watch it on 21st August, so book your tickets and make the most of this fleeting showing of one of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved films.
