The Isle of Berk lands at Cineworld in a week's time on June 9, with Dreamworks bringing to life the beloved 2010 animation of How to Train Your Dragon and giving it a sprinkle of the live action magic. Starring Mason Thames as Hiccup, with Gerard Butler reprising his role as Chief Stoick the Vast, the breaking of dragon fighting tradition is set to be a spectacle as one of 2025’s Filmed for IMAX titles.
Available to watch in IMAX, you can also choose between seeing the movie in 4DX, IMAX 3D, Superscreen, and ScreenX at Cineworld. And don’t forget, with Father’s Day coming up, Cineworld is also offering a How to Train Your Dragon 4DX gift experience for 2.

Unsure which format to see How to Train a Dragon in? We break down the options below and tell you what each has to offer.
Be one with the dragons with How to Train Your Dragon in IMAX
As a Filmed for IMAX title, the live action of How to Train Your Dragon has quite literally been made for the IMAX screen. Combining together IMAX technology with its own certified digital cameras, the making of sets and post-production optimisation means there really is only one way to watch the movie, with the visuals and audio exactly as director Dean DeBlois intended – though we think you should also see it in 4DX too.
As well as IMAX, How to Train Your Dragon can also leap out of the screen in IMAX 3D.
Feel the wind beneath your dragon wings by watching in 4DX
Mason Thames and Gerard Butler gave us their top tips to survive How to Train Your Dragon in 4DX, so it seems only right that you take their advice and…watch it in 4DX. Replicating what you see on screen and hitting your other senses, your chairs will take you on your very own dragon ride, with all the elements thrown in for good measure. Yes, you might get wet. You also might get blown away. But it’s all a part of the fun, and really immerses you in the story like no other format can truly match.
How to Train Your Dragon is also available in ScreenX and Superscreen
Cineworld is rolling out the red carpet for How to Train Your Dragon, with the option to also see the movie in ScreenX and Superscreen formats – should you not be swayed by IMAX or 4DX. ScreenX offers an immersive (though not quite so sensory) experience of the film with its 270º screens, while Superscreen could be a good alternative to IMAX with its larger than standard screens, allowing you to take in all the details as Hiccup, Toothless and the gang are brought to life.
A great movie to see with friends and family alike, get booking your tickets now so your butt is firmly planted in Cineworld come June 9, when this dragon ride takes off.
