What is the story of A Quiet Place: Day One?

A Quiet Place: Day One begins on an otherwise ordinary day in New York that is suddenly ripped apart by the arrival of horrific alien monsters that hunt by sound. A small group of survivors must band together in absolute silence if they want to see a brand new dawn.

Does A Quiet Place: Day One take place before the two previous A Quiet Place films?

Yes, A Quiet Place: Day One is the prequel to both A Quiet Place (2018) and A Quiet Place: Part II (2021), both of which were directed by John Krasinski.

Both of those films took place in the aftermath of the alien invasion at a time when the rules of silence were firmly established. A Quiet Place: Day One shows us the moment when the Earth fell silent and a new status quo reigned with mankind dropping to the bottom of the food chain.

Who stars in A Quiet Place: Day One?

Actor Lupita Nyong'o, celebrated for her Oscar-winning role in 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Jordan Peele's doppelganger horror Us (2019), is playing the central role. She's joined by Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) and Alex Wolff (Jumanji). Djimon Hounsou reprises his Island Man role from A Quiet Place: Part II.

Who directs A Quiet Place: Day One?

A Quiet Place: Day One is directed by Michael Sarnoski. Originally the job went to noted independent director Jeff Nichols, helmer of Mud and the upcoming The Bikeriders. However, he departed over creative differences and Sarnoski took over, having helmed the acclaimed and moving drama Pig (2021), which starred Nicolas Cage.

Are John Krasinski and Emily Blunt involved in A Quiet Place: Day One?

Krasinski is credited as a story writer and co-producer on A Quiet Place: Day One. However, he's not expected to reprise his role as Lee Abbott, the character he played in A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place: Part II, unless the ending of A Quiet Place: Part One explicitly points toward those films.

Likewise, we shouldn't expect to see Emily Blunt's character Evelyn Abbott unless the events of this movie directly lead us onward to her story.

Is A Quiet Place: Day One separate from the events of A Quiet Place: Part 3?

Yes, this is separate from A Quiet Place: Part 3, which is set to take place after the events of A Quiet Place: Part II. In May 2021, Emily Blunt revealed that John Krasinski had plans for a third A Quiet Place film, and it was announced in February 2022 that the film would be released in 2025.

When is A Quiet Place: Day One released?

A Quiet Place: Day One is released in the UK on June 27th.

Is A Quiet Place: Day One playing in special formats at Cineworld?

Yes, you can watch the film in IMAX, plus the Cineworld-exclusive special formats 4DX and Superscreen.
