What’s more terrifying than a film making you afraid of grabbing yourself a sweet treat? Honestly, it doesn’t bear thinking about. But that’s exactly what Eli Roth’s new horror movie Ice Cream Man does. When the titular ice cream man shows up in an idyllic suburb, the children queue up and, ultimately, turn into homicidal monsters – and we’re not just talking about every parent’s worst nightmare: a sugar crash.
Arriving at Cineworld on 7th August, attendees of our latest Secret Screaming got a preview screening of Ice Cream Man a few days before its official release, and this is what they thought.
Cheesy special effects are a trademark of a B-movie, bringing the “so bad, it’s good” energy for an enjoyable, fun watch. And many other attendees of the Secret Screaming for the Ice Cream Man agreed. And there were some surprising twists to add the cherry on top of the cake, too.
Good, dumb B-movie level fun. I'm surprised how hard they went on the lore and the twist 😂

When a movie is so bad, it’s good! A good laugh, some good and bad CGI. Fans of B movies would enjoy this! Not a single walkout in my fully packed screening tho, nice to see! 😀

Some nice practical effects (and some dodgy cgi) and a good run time

Public Service Announcement from Lorna: sometimes movies don’t have to be serious. Sometimes they can be silly and slapstick, and it’s all about the laughs and the good times.
Brilliant fun watch , made me laugh. People take films too seriously these days

Well that was a fun ride!

Second PSA! Make sure you stay in your seats for that end credit scene.
I loved it. Very funny indeed. And for those people that go and see it don't forget to stay til the end credits have finished!!!

We’re glad to hear you enjoyed it, too, Chris!
To be honest, considering our reservations about Ice Cream Man ruining one of our favourite sweet treats, we’re actually relieved to hear this is a funny, gory movie.
It was ridiculously stupid in a fun way, everyone was laughing and having a good time.

Sometimes you just need a daft and fun movie, y’know?
Daft and fun... 👍🏻

And, lastly, to Brad who couldn’t make the Secret Screaming, we hope you enjoy your screening of Ice Cream Man this weekend – and that you can make it to our next SS!
Such a shame I had to work tonight and miss this but I have my tickets to see it Sunday at cineworld every cloud 👍

And, as with any self-respecting slasher movie, the deaths are pretty spectacular.

Book your tickets to watch Ice Cream Man at Cineworld when it's released on 7th August.
