5 Father's Day movies that are best experienced together in Cineworld

It's Father's Day on June 16th, so what better way to celebrate than with a trip to Cineworld? We've rounded up five essential movies on release this June that you need to experience together.

1. Bad Boys: Ride or Die (released June 5th in 2D, IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX and Superscreen)

Oscar winner Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their enjoyable chalk-and-cheese chemistry in the fourth Bad Boys instalment. The series is famous for mixing explosive action and bickering banter, and the latest movie will surely be no different.

This time, Smith and Lawrence's characters, Mike and Marcus, go on the run from the Miami PD after being accused of a crime they didn't commit. The jokes promise to hit as hard as the bullets as Bad Boys for Life directors Adil & Bilall return to helm the mayhem.

2. Inside Out 2 (released June 14th in 2D, 4DX and Superscreen)

Who says animated films are just for kids and can't be enjoyed on Father's Day? The profundity of most of Pixar's output is a cut above the rest and it would take a hard heart not to relate to the exquisite emotional odyssey spun by the Inside Out series. It speaks to adults who have come through the tormented adolescent phase and children who are on the cusp of this all-important change.

Pixar's sequel to their 2015 Oscar-winner picks up with an older Riley, still centrally steered by emotions Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). But Riley is getting older and before long, new emotions start to emerge including the fractious Anxiety (Maya Hawke)...

3. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (screening in 2D, IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX and Superscreen)

Director George Miller blows away the cobwebs with another energetic and frantic blast of mayhem from the Mad Max universe. We're now presented with the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel story as the younger Furiosa (the steely Anya Taylor-Joy) battles the warlord Dementus (a scene-chewing Chris Hemsworth) who kidnapped her from the Green Place when she was a child.

Miller engages in more of the jaw-dropping theatrics that made Fury Road such a blast as the frame is crammed with all manner of post-apocalyptic, souped-up vehicles, elaborate stunts and memorably eccentric characters.

4. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (screening in 2D, ScreenX and Superscreen)

Journey to a world where humans have regressed and apes have emerged as the dominant species in the latest engrossing chapter of the classic Apes saga. Some 300 years after the death of the noble and intelligent Caesar (Andy Serkis), his naive yet brave young ancestor Noa (Owen Teague) is tasked with making a journey that promises to bridge the divide between ape and human, lest all-out war condemn one or both species.

Expect more of the jaw-dropping, photo-realistic performance capture effects as we continue to bridge the gap between the acclaimed Serkis trilogy and the events of the first Planet of the Apes film, originally released in 1968 with Charlton Heston in the lead.

5. The Fall Guy

There's something for everyone in this delirious and likeable riff on the art of Hollywood stuntmaking. The always watchable Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, an accomplished stuntman who makes for a less-than-accomplished hero away from the cameras when he's tasked with rescuing his latest film's leading man.

Gosling capitalises on his post-Barbie status as a walking social media meme machine and Emily Blunt completes the other side of the Barbenheimer equation, playing Colt's director and former love interest Jody. Older viewers meanwhile are sure to get a nostalgic kick out of the retro Kiss-aping soundtrack and emphasis on practical effects, the sort that used to be standard in big-budget filmmaking.
