We're delighted to announce the Cineworld Unlimited screening of Little Women this December. Lady Bird filmmaker Greta Gerwig adapts Louisa May Alcott's classic 1868 novel, adding grace notes of contemporary attitude while working with an all-star cast.
Lady Bird actor Saoirse Ronan leads as the headstrong Jo March, widely considered to be the autobiographical stand-in for Alcott herself. The story follows Jo and the rest of her sisters, Amy (Florence Pugh), Meg (Emma Watson) and Beth (Eliza Scanlen), as they progress into adulthood, dealing with life's trials and tribulations along the way.
Timothee Chalamet is boy next door Laurie, for whom both Jo and Amy harbour an affection. Laura Dern is the Marches' kindly mother Marmee and Meryl Streep is the severe Aunt March, who knows all too well how difficult it is for women to traverse 19th-century society.
Both Gerwig and her cast have received rave reviews. "This is a film in love with its characters' passions, a rich and effortlessly vibrant examination of the four March 'little women' and the ways... they're practically bursting with the innocent it's-happening-right-now joy of being young and alive," raves Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times.
