Already out in America (it was released on 29th May), the film has gone down well with audiences and critics. Cinemagoers in the UK get their chance to see it on 11th September.
From acclaimed stage play to big-screen thriller
Written by actor-writer David Haig, Pressure premiered in Edinburgh before transferring to the West End, where it became a hit. Then film director Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai) co-wrote the script with Haig, on which the 2026 film is based.

A play adaptation, you say? Trust us, this works. This hit play makes a gripping thriller. Like films such as The Father and The Invite, which both started life on the stage, Pressure looks set to be a sure-fire hit, with tight storytelling, tension-filled plotting and relatable characters.

Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) plays Eisenhower’s private secretary and confidante. Band of Brothers’ Damian Lewis is British Army General Bernard Montgomery and Chris Messina (Air) is Stagg’s nemesis, Colonel Irving P Krick.
