Look, we can all collectively agree January isn’t the best month (unless your birthday is in January, then it’s probably pretty great). It’s still winter, but without the countdown to Christmas to look forward to, and it definitely feels like it goes on for approximately 642901378 days longer than the 30 days our calendars would lead us to believe.
So while it may be Blue Monday, arguably the most miserable Monday that ever Monday’d, we know one way to cheer you up – and it’s watching a bunch of blue faces doing impressive, whimsical, adventurous things on the big screen.
Here’s five reasons why watching Avatar: Fire and Ash at Cineworld is the anecdote for Blue Monday.

1. You can buy yourself a little treat with Avatar: Fire and Ash merch still available
Not sure about you, but when we’re feeling a little low, nothing puts a pep in our step like the thought of buying ourselves a little treat. Discount the fact you’re taking yourself to the cinema – it’s Blue Monday and you deserve it – we think it’s important you elevate the trip by considering picking yourself up some Avatar: Fire and Ash merchandise.
Cineworld still has both its Black Nightwraith and Banshee topper cups, as well as its striking popcorn tins, which you can of course load up with snacks and drinks of your choice. There’s literally no other way to experience a movie at Cineworld.

2. Avatar: Fire and Ash is visually stunning
Far and out the most common praise you’ll hear about the Avatar series is how incredible it is visually. The vast majority of the film is CGI, created through motion capture via the actors – and yet, it looks like it could be real life. James Cameron has created something so otherworldly, and yet the whole production makes it so tangible to the viewer.

And, of course, Pandora is an incredibly lush, mesmerising landscape that really is a feast for the eyes. Even with the juxtaposition of the fire tribe in this third installment, the grit of these scenes just adds another layer to this large scale world building.
Which leads us on nicely to our next point…
3. Cineworld is still showing Avatar: Fire and Ash in IMAX
Want to see this absolute masterpiece on the biggest and most vivid canvas you can? Cineworld is still screening Avatar: Fire and Ash in IMAX and IMAX 3D (as well as other special formats 4DX and Superscreen).
Offering more dazzlingly brilliant colours and details, the screen is paired with a carefully curated sound system that engulfs you, transporting you straight to Pandora as if you could reach out and touch it.
4. You get to go even depper with the characters
Unless done very well, it’s unlikely you’ll form the same emotional connection with characters in a standalone as you do with a series. The Avatar films individually stretch beyond almost three hours. Now into our third film – with more on the way – we have grown so close to these characters, particularly Sully and his growing brood.
We know what drives them, their individual challenges, and the connections they have with the others and, particularly, with the world of Pandora. As the story expands, emotional attachment is inevitable, and the events of Avatar: Fire and Ash certainly further that sense of really knowing them. It’s an unmatched feeling when characters live in your head beyond the film’s final credits.
5. Duh, they're blue
It's Blue Monday and Na'vi are blue. Yes, sure, it's obvious and a fairly empty statement, but we love when a perfect plan comes together and this couldn't be a more fitting watch for Blue Monday. With the opportunity to catch it in IMAX and IMAX 3D, the stars have aligned and it's time to jet set off to Pandora. We don't make the rules, but you should definitely listen to us.
