The witty and spirited comedy-drama The Persian Version presents a fascinating clash between two different cultures. Unlimited members were treated to an advance screening of the latest must-see film from director Maryam Keshavarz, director of the acclaimed 2011 Iranian movie Circumstance. So, if you're feeling some serious FOMO and want in on the Unlimited perks, scroll to the bottom of this post and sign up today.
In the meantime, it's time to check out the positive reactions from last night's screening. The film depicts the life of Iranian-American woman Leila (Layla Mohammadi) who strives to find balance and embrace her opposing cultures, while boldly challenging the labels society is so quick to project upon her. When her family reunites in New York City for her father’s heart transplant, Leila navigates her relationships at arm’s length to keep her “real” life separate from her family life.
Here's what Unlimited members made of the film.
An excellent film, loved the relationships and seeing how everyone came to be who they are now. Layla Mohammadi is a great lead and can't wait to see what she and Maryam Keshavarz do in the future.

The trailer made this film look like a comedy, but it was so much more. The flashbacks were well placed & it gave highs of funny and lows of how life can be. A good watch, may watch again at some point to take in what I most likely missed this time. Definitely recommend 👍

A cultural experience like no other absolutely fantastic film. About family and culture. The cast are amazing Layla Mohammadi is Amazing I'm really surprised we haven't seen her in anything else. It's funny fun and smart. I loved the background of it all. More films like this!!

Both Layla Mohammadi & Niousha Noor were fantastic throughout in this. It covers an impressive amount of ground narratively as it jumps between flashbacks & the present day, is visually vibrant in its palette, & confident in presenting large sections of the film all in Persian.
