Tom Hanks with a bad temper? Say it isn't so. That's the delicious premise of the bittersweet new comedy-drama A Man Called Otto, in which Oscar-winner Hanks plays a grieving, grumpy busybody with a concealed heart of gold.
Hanks' character Otto can't face going on after the death of his wife. However, he gets a fresh perspective on life when new neighbours arrive on the block and steadily begin to coax him out of his shell. That said, it's initially a big ask to get the miserable Otto to crack a smile, let alone go the extra mile for somebody else.
Hanks' invincible screen charisma powers this remake of the 2015 Swedish movie A Man Called Ove. This week, we treated Cineworld Unlimited members to an advance screening of A Man Called Otto and we've gathered a few of their reactions below. Is it another winner for the actor officially dubbed the nicest guy in the movies? Scroll down and check out the responses.
One of the best films I’ve seen in ages ,not all about the special fx but a really good story with characters you care about and made me very emotional at times @tomhanks was incredible as were all the supporting cast and yes that includes the beautiful cat

Wow, that was an emotional suckerpunch ! Representation of the world as it is. A raw portrayal of grief, love and human nature at its best & worst. Every actor played an integral part in telling this beautiful story. Unlimited screenings are certainly delivering in 2023

Hanks scores another hit! Otto reminded me of my Dad and my wife said the recycling scene reminded her of me! So it was a glimpse into my future!! A brilliant film, funny, uplifting but also terribly poignant. Lots of people staying for the end titles cos they were in a mess!

The trailer is deceptive.. this film is funny AND serious AND heartwarming and it's @tomhanks so you have to go see it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was a mixture of funny but also shocking and emotional at the same time. It's unusual to see @tomhanks playing as a disgruntled character but you do understand why his character is experiencing those feelings. It's very well acted & very well made! Score: 8.5/10! Grade: A-! 😁
