What is the YRF Spy Universe?

Beginning with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017, and War in 2019, the YRF Spy Universe is a franchise born from film production company Yash Raj Films. While the second was a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, centring RAW agent Avinash Singh Rathore, War began as a completely separate, standalone film.

It wasn’t until the release of Pathaan in 2023, and off the back of War’s success, that the universe was established, with creator Aditya Chopra and director of War Siddharth Anand deciding to connect the storylines across the first three films. Pathaan was the first film to feature crossover storylines and characters from the previous titles.
