General Manager at Cineworld Rushden Lakes, Craig, will be running the London Marathon this Sunday, 29th April in aid of MediCinema.
His first ever marathon, Craig is a keen runner, film lover, and has a real appreciation for the work that MediCinema does, having spent an extended period of time in hospital back in 2010.
Suffering with Severe Aplastic Anaemia, Craig underwent Chemotherapy and received a bone marrow transplant from his sibling. He spent a lot of time in isolation watching films – "the good, the bad, and the so bad they were good" – leading him to get a job at Cineworld in Northampton once he was in remission.
He also decided he wanted to set himself a challenge once he was back on his feet. The goal? To run the London Marathon.
With the event offering places via ballot, Craig entered every year from 2013, but had no success. That was until MediCinema gave him the opportunity to join its London Marathon team.
“Being on my own, with limited visits due to my risk of infection – I watched a lot of films and would have loved the escapism of a cinema,” Craig told MediCinema.

MediCinema offers a slice of cinema magic and escapism to patients and their families by offering hospital friendly screenings that cater to all your medical needs, whether in a hospital bed or wheelchair, as well as accommodating any medical equipment. And, with the support of film studios and distributors, patients can watch some of the latest releases for free, and benefit from the properties great cinema can offer the mind and body.
Craig has already hit his goal of raising £2,000 for MediCinema, but there’s still time to donate and help an amazing cinema bring some reprieve through film to poorly patients.
