The movie industry may have been thrown into chaos, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy dazzling cinematic gems from across the world.
Arriving this summer, the pioneering We Are One film festival will be streaming on YouTube, allowing you access to a curated selection of movies. These films have been selected from the various 2020 international film festivals that have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Here's what you need to know.
What is the We Are One film festival?
Put simply, it's a 10-day online celebration of cinema, uniting a host of partners including the Tribeca, Cannes, London, Sundance and Venice film festivals, all under one banner. The aim is to collate a selection of thrilling movies from across the spectrum, under the guidance of Tribeca co-founder Jane Rosenthal.
Are the movies available for free?
Brace yourselves – yes, they are. Content will be available free of ads, and will also include behind the scenes panel discussions. There's no indication so far of the specific films that will be screened, so stay tuned to this blog post for updates.
Is the We Are One film festival in aid of charity?
Yes, it is. Viewers will be asked to make donations for COVID-19 relief, which YouTube and Tribeca say will benefit the World Health Organization and local organisations.
Where can we watch We Are One film festival?
On the We Are On YouTube channel.
When does the We Are One film festival take place?
It takes place over 10 days between the 29th of May and the 7th of June.
