If we're talking actor preparation, then the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick hits Mach-2.
The long-awaited Top Gun sequel reunites us with Tom Cruise's Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, the rebellious bad boy turned reluctant Navy hero. Cruise's breakout role in the original 1986 Top Gun propelled him into the stratosphere of Hollywood stars, and he's not ready to come back down to Earth yet.
Cruise is famously dedicated to realism and doing his own stunts. But for Top Gun: Maverick, he ensured that his co-stars would go through the same process.
Check out the following behind the scene video in which the likes of Miles Teller detail their intensive fighter jet training. This was mandated by Cruise, and on top of that, the actors also had to shoot their own footage while stationed in the jets themselves.
It's an admirable achievement and certainly, the resulting in-flight footage looks absolutely draw-dropping.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (who helmed Cruise in sci-fi epic Oblivion) and lensed in IMAX, Top Gun: Maverick will almost certainly take the breath away.
Top Gun: Maverick debuts at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival before blasting into Cineworld cinemas (including ScreenX) on 25th May.
