The circle is complete this December when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in Cineworld cinemas. And you don't have to use the Force to seek out your tickets – you can now book right here on the blog.
Director JJ Abrams returns to the Star Wars saga following 2015's The Force Awakens, and he's set to resolve the decades-long Skywalker saga that has now spanned three trilogies. The screenplay is written by Argo Oscar-winner Chris Terrio, and picks up where (somewhat controversial) predecessor The Last Jedi left off.
Daisy Ridley returns as Rey, and her struggle for identity underpins the narrative – of course, that very theme has surged through the Star Wars universe since the beginning. As she grapples with the light and dark sides of the Force, she must work out her place in the universe and also her relationship with Kylo Ren (Adan Driver), while the presence of the evil (and not-quite-dead) Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) hovers in the background.
John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran all return, joined by new faces Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. Series regulars Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels and Carrie Fisher all feature, promising to make this an emotional curtain Star Wars curtain call. Intriguingly, the late Fisher's scenes are constructed from unused footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
