Lucky Cineworld Unlimited members got to see Elton John biopic Rocketman in advance last night. Kingsman actor Taron Egerton plays the British pop icon in a "musical fantasy" that explores John's rise to the top of the music industry.
The film is helmed by Dexter Fletcher, who directed Egerton in 2016's Eddie the Eagle, and co-stars Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, John's songwriting partner, and Richard Madden as his manager John Reid.
The film has already brought the house down at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, so what did Unlimited members make of it? We'll start with this from Paul who lauds everyone involved.

AME says the film offers a bracing and fascinating insight into John's life.
I really enjoyed the film/musical last night! Loved @TaronEgerton great performance as Elton. Liked the way the songs were interwoven to give an insight into Elton’s early life and what had shaped him as a person & musician. Some very sad and poignant moments portrayed well pic.twitter.com/h4YB3rUSyA

Warren is tipping Egerton for the top awards.
Superb film, excellent acting @TaronEgerton surely should be up for an Oscar for that performance pic.twitter.com/kjKqlV5F0H

Simon says it easily beats a certain other blockbusting music biopic...
What an awesome performance from Taron Egerton, excellent casting. It’s not exactly what a lot of people will be expecting after bohemian rhapsody but In my opinion it’s better! Great fun and brilliant performances of Elton’s hits intertwined with a conflicting story.

And Stephan admires the film for its honest approach to John's background.
Just out of the @cineworld screening of @rocketmanmovie ... ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! @TaronEgerton has captured Elton John in all his guises and given us a modern day film musical that doesn’t pull any punches. I’m going to have to see this one again
