DC superhero movie The Flash stars Ezra Miller as the eponymous superhero, who breaks apart the multiverse and ends up pairing with Michael Keaton's Batman. The latter reprises his iconic role for the first time since 1992's Batman Returns and his appearance promises to act as a nostalgic blast for comic book fans.
The Flash is directed with verve by IT helmer Andy Muschietti who works overtime to visualise Barry Allen's quicksilver abilities on the big screen. This means you have to experience the movie in one of several premium formats at Cineworld, but what is available and which will you choose? Scroll down to find out more.
1. IMAX makes the visual possibilities of the multiverse seem endless
IMAX deploys a unique and massively more expansive aspect ratio (1.90:1 versus anamorphic widescreen's 2.39:1) to leave you breathless and awed. In addition, the format's remastering process enlists dual projection and perfectly tuned surround sound to ensure that your moviegoing experience positively glistens with all manner of nuance and vitality.
This is important for a movie like The Flash, which has the difficult challenge of visually articulating a superhero who can move faster than the speed of sound. Prepare to be blown away by the lighting effects, bold colours and layered sound design that take you inside Barry's POV – it's the sort of thing for which IMAX was made.
The following clip explains how IMAX works and transforms movies beyond your imagination.
2. Multisensory 4DX physically connects you with Barry's lightning-quick sense of movement
4DX is unique to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland, providing a tangible and palpable experience right from the comfort of your cinema seat. Multisensory effects (wind, water, rain, scents) work in tandem with seats that move in time with the on-screen action.
Vibrating and shaking effects are controlled by motion programming, which means it's time to hold on tight whenever Barry is powering up. 4DX means you can feel what it's like to be the character, as opposed to just watching him.

3. ScreenX envelops you in Andy Muschietti's vision
ScreenX is an all-enveloping, 270-degree viewing experience that extends a given movie onto the side walls of the auditorium. The state-of-the-art technology uses up to 12 additional projectors to extend the movie beyond your peripheral vision, perfect for a movie like The Flash where our hero is surrounded by action and peril at every turn. Every chase, fight and adventure will engulf, surprise and feel closer than ever.

4. Superscreen will make you feel like you're in the movie
Superscreen's breathtaking multidimensional sound powered by epic Dolby Atmos speakers will make you feel like you’re right there in the film. When this is combined with state-of-the-art projection and huge screens, every second of Barry's emotional journey (and trust us, it is emotional) is a beauty to behold.
