What's Barbie without Ken? Or, to put it more accurately, what's Ken without Barbie? That's one of the hilarious questions put forward in Greta Gerwig's insightful and delightful Barbie movie, now on release at Cineworld.
As played by a scene-stealing Ryan Gosling, Ken feels like he has no definition or personality whatsoever when Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie) is focused elsewhere.
Making it worse is the prevalence of other Kens (and a single Alan, played by Michael Cera) populating Barbie World. This includes a beaching rival played by Simu Liu. How can Gosling's Ken possibly hope to stand out from the crowd? And what does this mean for his sidekick Kens played by the likes of Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ncuti Gatwa?
Find out more in the following video that explores the precarious notion of what it means to be a Ken.
