John Krasinski returns to direct A Quiet Place: Part II, the sequel to his 2018 horror hit A Quiet Place. The first movie emerged as a surprise critical and commercial success, deploying sound to spine-chilling effect in its story of horrific monsters with an acute sense of hearing.
Krasinski's real-life wife Emily Blunt is back as Evelyn Abbott, who now must lead her children Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Regan (Millicent Simmonds), plus their newborn baby, on a journey into the unknown. With their homestead destroyed, the Abbotts must now find a new place to live, navigating a dangerous world infested with the bloodthirsty creatures. And an equally deadly threat emerges in the form of survivor Emmett (Cillian Murphy), who may well know more about the wider situation than he's letting on.
The first social media reactions have been unleashed ahead of the film's release on the 19th of March. And they're teasing a frightening, thought-provoking sequel that expands the mythology of A Quiet Place while ratcheting up the suspense.
Fandango editor Erik Davis describes it as a worthy sequel that will have viewers gnawing away at their fingernails.
Damn, #AQuietPlace Part II rocks! Honestly, just as tense and terrifying as the first one. There are some sequences in this film that are a masterclass in suspense. Bravo, @johnkrasinski. So good, so emotional, too. pic.twitter.com/3uSBwvCw0R

Indiewire's Kate Erbland says the movie fills in the gaps without ruining the surprises.
A QUIET PLACE PART II: A worthy, world-expanding followup that builds on the original and finds its own thrills, chills, and emotions in the process. Audiences should still be banned from eating crunchy snacks during any and all screenings.

Uproxx editor Mike Ryan says he's come up with an alternative name for the film.
A QUIET PLACE PART II is “Tension: The Movie.” I have a stomach ache now from how tense this movie is. (Also, this turned out to be a surprisingly great Cillian Murphy movie.)

As before, the careful modulation of sound, from the slightest rustle of leaves to the most bloodcurdling of screams, is a vital character in the drama. So says Comicbook.com writer Chris Killian.
The use of sound in #AQuietPlace Part 2 is still so vital. In what could easily have been a retread, @johnkrasinski finds unbelievably creative ways to keep the movie’s niche from getting stale. The entire cast is fantastic and it’s riveting from top to bottom. @quietplacemovie pic.twitter.com/gZHRyJOKXU

DailyDead news journalist Heather Wixson says that the movie belongs to two of the main actors.
So #AQuietPlacePartII was incredibly tense & builds upon the story from the first film in some unexpected/inspired ways. Cillian Murphy RULES & Millicent Simmonds really comes into her own her with a truly phenomenal performance.

And Rotten Tomatoes editor-in-chief Joel Meares is another critic who praises Simmonds' performance.
Kudos to John Krasinski and co: #AQuietPlace Part II delivers. Millicent Simmonds is my new Ripley — owns the film. (And yes, some great scares.)
