Director Denzel Washington and actor Michael B. Jordan are set to make a dynamic pairing in the forthcoming drama A Journal for Jordan. Washington builds on the Oscar-winning success of his previous directorial effort Fences while Jordan further asserts his star power, already evident from the likes of Black Panther, Creed and Just Mercy.
Washington collaborates with Oscar-nominated Mudbound writer Virgil Williams to bring us the true story of First Sergeant Charles Monroe King (Jordan), a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. Back at home, senior New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child.
The movie is being billed as "a sweeping account of a once-in-a-lifetime love, the film is a powerful reminder of the importance of family". Given the presence of both Washington and Jordan, we can well believe it. Check out the trailer below and get a taste of this possible Oscar contender. A Journal for Jordan is released in Cineworld cinemas on 22nd January 2022.
